#NEWTOX Is First BOTOX® Competitor in 10 Years—And We’ve Got It

Earlier this year the FDA approved Jeuveau™ (pronounced Jū-vō), the first BOTOX® competitor to arrive on the market in 10 years. As a leader in the aesthetics industry, The Wall Center is among the first in the U.S. to offer Jeuveau, also called #NEWTOX, to our clients in Shreveport, LA.

Jeuveau is now the 4th FDA-approved product available designed to minimize what are called “dynamic wrinkles” using essentially the same active ingredient. How can patients know what’s best for them? That’s what we’ll address in this blog post.

Why JEUVEAU?

Do we really need a 4th neurotoxin to treat wrinkles caused by squinting, frowning, and other facial expressions? Even though Jeuveau is similar to BOTOX, Dysport®, and XEOMIN®, it is the only one of these products to be developed specifically as an aesthetic treatment. Doctors use BOTOX, Dysport, and XEOMIN to treat medical conditions such as migraines, excessive sweating, and facial and neck spasms, but Jeuveau’s only purpose is to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

It is also made using a state-of-the-art manufacturing process called Hi-Pure™ technology and was approved by the FDA only after it was shown to be safe and effective in 5 clinical studies involving 2,100 patients.

So, Is Jeuveau Right for You?

Our aesthetic specialists at Jade MediSpa at The Wall Center have an array of treatment options to address the specific concerns of their patients. Because we’re one of the first in the nation to offer Jeuveau, women and men concerned about expression lines now have an additional BOTOX alternative not available at most other spas. This is important because BOTOX and other neurotoxins may not work as well for one person as they do for others.

Here are some things to keep in mind about Jeuveau (and other neurotoxins):

  • Jeuveau can smooth lines caused by your facial muscle movement, like frown lines and forehead wrinkles, but it can’t erase wrinkles caused by sun damage or restore lost volume. That’s what dermal fillers, such as JUVÉDERM®, are for.
  • You’ll need to come in for periodic maintenance treatments. Results fade after a few months, so you’ll need follow-up treatments a few times a year to maintain your appearance.
  • Jeuveau can actually help prevent new wrinkles because it keeps your muscles from making certain movements. It’s those movements that lead to the development of lines and wrinkles.
  • We recommend postponing any injectable toxin treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. It’s even a good idea to not get Jeuveau injections if you’re planning to become pregnant in the near future because its effects can last for several months.

Even though Jeuveau is approved specifically to treat glabellar lines (the “frown lines” between the eyebrows), it can be used “off-label” to treat forehead lines, crow’s feet, bunny lines on the nose, and other areas where BOTOX is typically used.
